Fact About the 155mm Gun - 8" Howitzer The 8" Howitzer rides on a split-trailed carriage equipped with a four-wheeled bogie assembly. This assembly allows the carriage to be lowered into firing position or to raise the Howitzer for transportation from place to place. When the carriage is in motion, air brakes are employed, and when parked a mechanical brake system is used. Designed to allow fire control in any direction, a removable circular firing platform was installed. This carriage is versatile in that the 8" Howitzer can be interchanged with a 155mm "Long Tom" whenever desired.

1/48 8" Howitzer
Great kit for the beginner or the nostalgia modeler. The parts are well molded and with only a few sink-holes (most of them cannot be seen after assembly). The tires need bit of attention and the figures show their age, but some putty and careful painting brings them to life. The kit comes with a nice set of decals and the final result is a nice model overall.

8" Howitzer
All the parts fit the same as they did in 1963/64. The hand brakes had to be cut out of the flash & the figures needed superglue to fill holes. Due to the shiny, smooth surfaces I primed all the assemblies with a flat grey primer and after a 24 hour cure time I sprayed light & dark flat OD plus mud & dirt. The final addition will be Tamiya's 1/48 infantry at rest and 1/48 brick walls + sandbags. I gave 5 stars because the only other source would be Ebay at $50 or more.
