Description
Battle of the Ironclads U.S.S. Monitor & C.S.S. Merrimac/Virginia Plastic Model Kit
Relive one of the most important naval battles in American history with the Atlantis Models Battle of the Ironclads historical diorama set. This detailed plastic model kit includes two legendary Civil War ironclads: the U.S.S. Monitor and the C.S.S. Merrimac/Virginia.
On March 9, 1862, these two revolutionary warships met at the Battle of Hampton Roads off the coast of Virginia. Their clash marked a turning point in naval history. The age of wooden warships was coming to an end, and the future of armored naval warfare had begun.
This Atlantis release features the original Lindberg tooling, not the Pyro tooling. These are completely different molds. The Merrimac/Virginia measures approximately 14 inches long and is molded in 1/300 scale, while the Monitor measures approximately 8.25 inches long and is molded in 1/210 scale.
The kit includes both ironclad ships, a vacu-formed seascape display base, and individual display stands with nameplates for builders who prefer to display the ships separately. Also included are updated decals, a historical booklet, and detailed assembly instructions.
Molded in light gray, this kit is perfect for model builders, Civil War enthusiasts, naval history collectors, educators, and students. It makes an excellent display piece, classroom project, or historical diorama.
