The Bismarck was one of the most powerful and feared battleships of World War II. Built for the German Navy, she was designed for speed, endurance, and long-range commerce raiding. Measuring more than 800 feet in length and displacing over 42,000 tons, Bismarck was a massive and heavily armed warship capable of speeds over 30 knots.

Her main battery consisted of eight 15-inch guns mounted in four large turrets, giving her tremendous firepower. In May 1941, Bismarck entered the North Atlantic in an attempt to threaten Allied shipping lanes. During this mission, she encountered British naval forces in one of the most dramatic battles in modern naval history.

The Bismarck’s guns helped sink the British battlecruiser HMS Hood, one of the Royal Navy’s most famous ships. The loss shocked Britain and triggered a massive effort to track and destroy the German battleship. After days of pursuit, air attacks, torpedo strikes, and heavy naval gunfire, Bismarck was finally disabled and sunk.
