Dean Moon was around cars and racing from his youth. Dean was involved in dry lake hot-rodding in the late 1940s. He founded MOON Equipment Company (c.1950) and worked to improve the quality and safety of speed and racing products his entire life. Dean Moon was a hot rodder and innovator of speed parts. He established a company that became an icon in the hot rodding industry. Early products were a multi-carb fuel block, spun aluminum wheel discs, aluminum gas tanks and a foot-shaped throttle pedal. Products carrying the Moon name, including the Moon disc wheel covers and Moon Tank auxiliary fuel containers, were very popular. MOON Equipment Company paused after Dean died in 1987, then stopped momentarily after Dean Moon's wife died. In the early 1990s the company restarted as MOONEYES USA which continues to carry on the traditions of Dean Moon today.

For the the tires & rims alone I would rate this at 10 stars. I dechromed engine parts as desired with Easy Off (yellow cap), sanded as needed, and trimmed for fit as needed. Engine assembles well with trimming blower piping, added plastic piece for bellhousing debris cover between oilpan & bellhousing, and added starter which wasn't in the instructions. I assembled engine, tires/rims, frame, front axle, body panels. Added tires & exhaust after decals. Lots of parts left over for the Revell "Sanitary T-Bucket"; this was originally a 2 in 1 kit. Revell also offered the Tony Nancy 22 Jr & 22 Jr dragster and the Revell-Liner dragster which can be found on Ebay $35. Great job Atlantis!!!!

    Mooneyes Dragster Part 2

I was anxiously awaiting this model and now that I have built it, I have a few complaints. The instructions are a bit vague in some areas. The engine transmission doesn't line up with the differential and many parts (some described in the instructions) have to be modified. I was also surprised at how many extra parts are included. More parts are left over than needed to build the Dragster! With that said, my opinion is that this kit is designed for the advanced modeler. The casual builder will find this kit frustrating at times. Although I sound negative I don't want to discourage anyone from buying this kit. Atlantis has done an excellent job and without their love of modeling, we would probably never have seen this kit re-released!

Incredible amount of detail for such a small kit. Tons of extra parts and the chrome is some of the best I've ever seen! I highly recommend this kit to any fan of drag racing!

Wow, what a model !! Four vintage custom car parts kits in one kit . All, but the Chevy 283 engine, have never been reissued since the 1960's. You get the Mooneyes Dragster frame, Chevy 283 engine, '23 T Roadster Frame and the Roadster Chassis Speed Equipment parts paks kits. What a deal for all these great highly detailed vintage parts in one model. Thank you Atlantis !

Great to see this kit again. If memory serves, this was part of a 2 dragster kit back in the 60's. Some of the parts for the second dragster is included with this kit. So I guess one could make the second T bucket dragster with a few more parts. But at any rate, it's great to have this again. I didn't see any flash on the parts, they look in great shape, chrome looks super. I haven't built this yet, I'm waiting on the 72 Chevy racers wedge to make a Mooneyes hauler to go with the dragster. Thanks Atlantis, you're doing a super job in bringing back the past.
