White Fruehauf Gas Truck Sinclair US Army NEW GLASS Plastic Model kit 1/48

This model is fun to build & is very well made!

I picked this kit up at Hobby Lobby, and it's a great model for tabletop miniatures gaming! The scale (1:48) and look go nicely with a number of tabletop wargame miniatures lines; the "retro" look works nicely with "Fallout." Ease of assembly is about average for a plastic model kit, though some of the more fiddly bits can be a challenge. I had to use some epoxy putty to correct some "dimples" in the plastic on the side of the tank, torsos of the two included figures, and on the tires especially. There was also a bit of flash that required some careful cleanup before assembly. Despite those minor challenges, even this many years later, it's still a handsome model that holds up well! I was very happy with the result.

At 1:48 scale this is a great addition to my O gauge model train layout and a great Covid project. I had a little trouble with some parts fitting together, though.

For its age this model can be built up into an eye catcher and it's an unusual subject. Plastic windows can be made from Evergreen clear plastic sheet and any join line can be filled & sanded smooth to make the truck body appear as a single part. The truck can also be polished to a gloss & clear coated to avoid painting and the cure time required. It was after all a working vehicle that probably wasn't waxed.

This is a nice little kit. At 1/48 scale it goes together very good and has great detail for its size. I highly recommend it to all truck enthusiasts and to all who want something different to build. 3 cheers for Atlantis for reissuing it!
