What a pleasant surprise to learn that the Renwal pieces are being reproduced. I have the original sets in their respective boxes. Would love to know the story behind the tooling. Where has it been? How was it acquired? Should be a hit with European hobby shops where ship modeling remains a passion.

US Combat Task Force in 1/1200

I have waited a very long time for this kit to be re-issued. Trying to buy one off the collectors, even in started condition, usually requires selling an organ or two, and right now, I am still using mine. While I know that a lot of people are bemoaning the lack of the vacuum formed base, for me that is not an issue. It's all about the ships. There were only two 1/1200 North Carolina kits in plastic that I am aware of - the Pyro (recently Lindberg) kit and this one. Amazingly, the Pyro model and this one were apparently contemporaries, yet their kit only just resembled the actual ship! For that reason alone, this kit was worth the purchase. But wait! There's more! There's the Essex class carrier Hornet after conversion to feature an angled flight deck. There is the Canberra, the Galveston, the Dewey, all postwar designs complete with missiles. And more. While not super-detailed nor 100% accurate, they are close enough and look the part. Mine will be cut to waterline and put into service for Pratt rule wargames... as soon as I finish my backlog of other ships!

Loved this. Lots of variety (12 ships) and there's a opportunity for any stages of modeler to design them.

This is such a COOL re-release! took me over 65 years to get one but now that I build a LOT of dioramas, this one will come in super handy to populate some of my ocean going battle scenes. Nice moldings and it's such fun to read the instructions. You will have fun with this one and many thanks to Atlantic for making i possible o won one...might have to get another one...:-)

Sad that the vacuum formed base is not part of this classic rerelease. Looks like I'm going to have to use Acrylic Gel Medium, in a frame, to display this gem!

Very disappointed that the vacuumed formed sea base was not reproduced. Seems the difficulty in making it should have been overcome. Would have given 5 stars.

The original came with a vac-u-formed base with premade slots that would accept the ships as shown. The new box back is an inexpensive way to provide a display for the models. Not a fan of that but will be pre-orderings for the ships. My memory of them is very positive and 1/1200th scale remains a popular naval model scale.
